Get in touch
Email zoemusiclabs@outlook.com. Tell us your device, its iOS, iPadOS or macOS version, Selah's version (in About), and the host app if you use one. We usually reply within two working days.
Getting started
Open Selah and the Demo loop plays through the reverb straight away. Switch Input to Live in to play your own instrument or microphone through it, with headphones or an audio interface. On a built-in speaker Selah stays muted until you confirm you are on headphones, so it cannot feed back. The guides in Selah's Menu walk through everything.
Using Selah in a host
- GarageBand on iPhone or iPad: on an Audio Recorder track, open Plug-ins & EQ, tap a slot, choose Audio Unit Extensions, then Selah.
- AUM, Loopy Pro, Cubasis: add an effect and pick Selah from the Audio Unit list.
- Logic Pro, MainStage, GarageBand on the Mac: in a plug-in slot, choose Audio Units, ZoeMusicLabs, Selah - Reverb. To control Selah from MIDI in Logic or MainStage, load it in a software instrument track's Instrument slot (AU MIDI-controlled Effects) and choose the audio under Side Chain.
MIDI controllers and footswitches
Open Settings, then MIDI learn: tap a control, then move a knob or press a pedal. Freeze, Swell, the four Snapshots and the previous and next favourite (the arrows in the MIDI learn bar) can each have a pedal. Program change picks presets: bank 0 your favourites, 1 the factory presets, 2 your own. In the Selah app, USB controllers work as soon as they are plugged in. On iPhone and iPad, pair Bluetooth MIDI under Settings, Bluetooth MIDI, and turn on Network MIDI there to play from a Mac over Wi-Fi. On the Mac, set up Bluetooth and network MIDI in Audio MIDI Setup.
Keyboard shortcuts (iPad and Mac)
⌘F Freeze, ⌘E Swell, ⌘1 to ⌘4 Snapshots, ⌘← and ⌘→ previous and next preset, ⌘B bypass, ⌘T Stage mode. On iPad, hold ⌘ to see them all.
If something is not right
- No sound with Live in: check Selah has the microphone (iOS Settings, Privacy, Microphone, or System Settings on the Mac) and that you confirmed headphones.
- Selah is missing from a host: open the Selah app once, then restart the host. On iPhone or iPad, restarting the device clears a stale plug-in list.
- Crackles: raise the host's buffer size, or use fewer instances with Halo's shimmer on older devices.
- A preset file will not import: Selah only opens presets it can read safely. Ask the person who shared it to export it again.
